  • Amesha Spentas  (a.k.a. Amshaspand) - the Amesha Spentas were the "holy immortals," the six or seven spirits created by the great god Ahura Mazda in the Zoroastrian religion to assist him in the ordering of the universe. They were given various qualities and ultimately received exceedingly personalized attributes: truth (Vohu Manah); immortality (Ameretat); salvation (Haurvatat); desirable realm or dominion (Kshathra Vairya); highest righteousness (Asha Vahishta); pious devotion (Spenta Aramaiti); and an added seventh of personified obedience (Saraosha). Eventually, seven evil attributes, portrayed by seven Daevas, came to represent the famous seven deadly sins, while the Amesha Spentas served as the foundation of the seven virtures.
